How To Bleed Double Acting Hydraulic Cylinder?

Bleeding a double-acting hydraulic cylinder is an important maintenance procedure that ensures proper operation and eliminates air from the hydraulic system. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to bleed a double-acting hydraulic cylinder:

Note: Before proceeding with the bleeding process, make sure you have the necessary safety equipment, such as gloves and protective eyewear, and ensure that the hydraulic system is depressurized.

  1. Identify Bleed Points: Locate the bleed points on the hydraulic cylinder. These are typically situated at the highest points of the cylinder and are marked with a fitting or valve.
  2. Position the Cylinder: Move the hydraulic cylinder to a position where the air trapped inside it will rise toward the bleed points. This is usually achieved by extending the cylinder to its maximum length.
  3. Prepare Tools: Ensure you have the appropriate tools to open and close the bleed points. This may include wrenches or pliers, depending on the type of fittings or valves used.
  4. Open Bleed Points: Carefully open the bleed points on the cylinder by turning the fittings counterclockwise or opening the valves. Start with the highest bleed point first.
  5. Purge Air: Slowly operate the hydraulic system to extend the cylinder fully. This will force the air trapped inside the cylinder to escape through the open bleed points. Monitor the bleed points for any signs of air bubbles coming out.
  6. Close Bleed Points: Once you observe a steady flow of hydraulic fluid without air bubbles, close the bleed points by turning the fittings clockwise or closing the valves. Ensure they are tightened securely to prevent any leaks.
  7. Retract the Cylinder: Operate the hydraulic system to retract the cylinder fully. This will help purge any remaining air from the system. Again, monitor the bleed points during this process.
  8. Repeat if Necessary: If you notice air bubbles or experience spongy operation after bleeding the cylinder once, repeat the process. Start again from the highest bleed point and work your way down until all the air is eliminated.

The special cylinder workshop is equipped with various specifications of a semi-automatic cleaning assembly system with a designed annual production capacity of 200,000 and equipped with famous CNC machining equipment, a machining center, a high-precision cylinder processing special equipment, a robot welding machine, an automatic cleaning machine, automatic cylinder assembly machine, and automatic painting production line. Existing critical equipment of more than 300 sets (sets). The optimal allocation and efficient use of equipment resources ensure the accuracy requirements of products and meet the high-quality needs of products.

The machining shop is equipped with a customized inclined rail turning center, machining center, high-speed honing machine, welding robot, and other related equipment, which can handle the processing of cylinder tubes with a maximum inner diameter of 400mm and a maximum length of 6 meters.

With small and medium-sized cylinder automatic water-based paint coating lines, to achieve automatic robot loading and unloading and automatic spraying, the design capacity of 4000 pieces per shift;
